Representatives of the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT) participated in the round table “Russia’s Coal Industry: There Is a Way Out,” organized by the business publication Vedomosti in partnership with the consulting company NEFT Research.
The event focused on the development of the coal industry and the search for balanced solutions to ensure the sector’s sustainable operation in the current economic environment.
IEDT was represented by Pavel Shestakov, Deputy General Director, and Alexey Rozhkov, Deputy Head of the Center for Financial Modeling. The institute’s experts discussed the issue of inflated project bids, the interrelation between tariffs and Russian Railways’ investment program, and presented analytical assessments of how transport costs affect the export-oriented coal economy. They also emphasized the importance of a comprehensive approach to transport infrastructure development and tariff policy improvement as key factors for the sector’s sustainable growth.
