Formation of forecasts for the development of cargo traffic volumes
Forecasting cargo traffic volumes is an important management task in determining strategic plans for the development of transport infrastructure. JSC "ITED" builds medium- and long-term forecasts of the cargo base with a depth of detail that allows to justify decisions on the need for the development of the railway network, its individual polygons, directions, sections, nodes and stations.
In order to reduce the uncertainty of the forecast, increase its reliability and verification, calculations in JSC "ITED" are carried out with the maximum number of factors affecting the development of cargo traffic volumes using modern methods of economic and mathematical modeling.
Within the framework of this direction , the following is done:

Development of prospects for the development of passenger transportation
One of the main direction of JSC "ITED" is to determine the parameters of the passenger complex on railway transport in the medium and long term prospects. Based on data on the development indicators of the regions of gravity and the market conditions of passenger transportation by railway and alternative modes of transport, the forecast of prospective passenger traffic volumes, determination of the size of passenger train traffic and necessary measures related to passenger infrastructure on the railway network of JSC "Russian Railways" is carried out. To determine the promising parameters of passenger transportation, the construction of correlation-regression and econometric models for forecasting the volume of passenger traffic in long-distance and suburban traffic is carried out.
Within the framework of this direction , the following is done:
- Calculation of passenger traffic and passenger turnover in long-distance and suburban traffic, including calculation of the network as a whole and additional details on polygons, transport hubs and individual stations
- Determination of the transport balance on major routes and assessment of the induced demand for passenger transportation generated by the launch of new products on railway transport
- Calculation of prospective train traffic in long-distance and suburban traffic, taking into consideration the urban development of territories and points of origin and repayment of passenger traffic, as well as an assessment of the required rolling stock fleet
- Determination of the perspective configuration of suburban-urban train routes in major transport hubs
- Calculation of target parameters of projects for the organization of high-speed communication (prospective traffic volumes, traffic sizes, travel time, rolling stock parameters)

Determination of requirements for traction rolling stock
Prospective technology of traction maintenance and calculation of the required park of traction train (by type of traction, type of current, required power, sectionality of locomotives) to ensure prospective traffic amounts in cargo and passenger traffic. Determination of the necessary development of linear enterprises for the repair of locomotives.

JSC "ITED" is doing a comprehensive assessment of the effectiveness of projects, namely feasibility studies of strategic and individual projects and programs in railway transport, including an assessment of the commercial and socio-economic effectiveness of the implemented activities.
In addition to self-assessment of the effectiveness of projects, specialists of JSC "ITED" can conduct an examination of investment and innovative projects and programs.
