On February 27, 2024, a regular 38th meeting of the open interuniversity scientific and practical seminar “Economics of Railway Transport” was held at the National Research University Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE).
R.V. Martyshkin, Deputy Head of the Macroeconomics and Forecasting Methodology Center of IEDT JSC, at the seminar presented a report “Problems and Prospects of Rail Freight Transportation in the Russia-China Communication”, prepared by specialists of the Center.
Roman Viktorovich presented general trends in development of mutual trade between Russia and China, and also outlined existing barrier points in development of rail freight transportation and possible ways to overcome them.
In addition, information on China's promising railway projects, including supported in third countries, was reflected.
As a summary, promising railway projects aimed at developing bilateral Russia-China traffic, both in China and in Russia, were identified.
During the seminar, experts discussed issues of further development of trade and economic relations between Russia and China and transport infrastructure of two countries, paying special attention to the technological aspects of cross-border transport.
