On November 26, 2024, the Academic Council of the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT) convened to address the current state and trends in the development of Russian and Chinese seaports, prospects for cargo transportation by rail through domestic ports, and related topics.
The session featured scientific presentations on the following subjects:
Chinese Seaports: Current Status, Trends, and Development Potential. Presented by Nelly Kimovna Semenova, Cand. Political Science, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences;
Port Handling and Development of Port Capacities. Delivered by Alexander Alexandrovich Goloviznin, Director of Analytics and Logistics at LLC "Morstroitechnologiya";
Prospects for Rail Freight Through Russian Seaports in the Far East. A report on the competitiveness of railway routes and forecasted trade parameters with Asia-Pacific and South Asian countries by Alexey Anatolyevich Zamkovoy, Cand. Econ. Sc., Deputy General Director of IEDT;
Railway-Port Logistics and Cargo Warehousing in Managing Natural Capital and Its Financial Impact. Presented by Oleg Nikolaevich Makarov, Cand. Econ. Sc., Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology, Sociology, and Public and Municipal Administration, RUT, based on his dissertation research.
The meeting, attended by representatives of the Russian Railways holding and the scientific-expert community, facilitated detailed discussions on projects to develop rail links with Russian ports in the main maritime basins (Azov-Black Sea, Arctic, Baltic, and Far Eastern).
