From 30 September to 3 October, Arkhangelsk hosted the “Polyus” Forum of Young Scientists, which brought together more than 400 participants – young researchers and students from various fields.
The Forum was organised by the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodezh) as part of the 2022–2031 Decade of Science and Technology in Russia, declared by the President of the Russian Federation.
The transport industry, Russian Railways (RZD), and the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT) were represented at the Forum by Andrey Zakovorotny, Chairman of the IEDT Youth Council.
During the event, participants learned about the culture and traditions of the Russian North, worked on case studies involving the development of financial and economic models, designed software solutions for disease forecasting in the Arctic zone (commissioned by the Alabuga Special Economic Zone), and strengthened communication and collaboration within the Russian scientific community.
The forum also featured lectures focused on the development of science and technology, discussions of new scientific research approaches (AI, big data, etc.), and reflections on what science will look like over the next 10–20 years. Special attention was given to research emerging at the intersection of multiple scientific disciplines.
