IEDT Led the Meeting of the Working Group on ITC

On August 22, 2024, the twelfth meeting of the Working Group on International Transport Corridors, under the Directorate of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, was held in Moscow in a hybrid format. The meeting was chaired by Alexey Anatolyevich Zamkovoy, Deputy Director General of the Joint Stock Company "Institute for Transport Economics and Development" (IEDT JSC).

Representatives from the railway administrations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Georgia, the Republic of Estonia, and representatives of the Directorate of the Council participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the Working Group discussed several key issues:

  • The decision of the CIS Council of Heads of Government dated May 24, 2024, on the approval of the Action Plan for optimizing infrastructure and developing international transport corridors passing through the territories of the CIS countries for the period up to 2030.

  • A proposal from the Council's Commission on Railway Transport regarding the methodology for operational and statistical accounting in railway transport, specifically related to organizing the accounting of indicators that characterize the performance of international transport corridors. It was decided to conduct work on organizing statistical monitoring of the performance indicators of international transport corridors passing through the territories of countries participating in the Council's activities.

  • Appeals from the working bodies of the Council for Railway Transport and the Russian Federation's railway administration on issues related to the development of container transportation. Following the discussion of this issue, it was decided to establish an Expert Group on the Development of Container Transportation within the framework of the Working Group on International Transport Corridors (ITC).

The next meeting of the Working Group on ITC is scheduled for the first quarter of 2025.
