IEDT participated in the 83rd meeting of the CIS Council for Railway Transport

The eighty-third meeting of the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on 25–26 November in Baku, the capital of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT) was represented at the meeting by Sergey Rumyantsev, General Director of IEDT, and Alexey Zamkovoy, Deputy General Director of IEDT.

During the meeting, the Council reviewed the following issues:

implementation of the decisions of the eighty-second meeting of the Council and the results of railway network operations for the first nine months of 2025;

work carried out to develop international passenger services for the first nine months of 2025 and progress in implementing the objectives of the Express International passenger transport integration system;

results of drafting the freight train formation plan and the container wagon formation plan for international services for the 2025/2026 year;

results of the 2025 numbered inventory of freight wagons;

the tariff policy of the railways for international freight transport for the 2026 freight year;

the R&D plan of the railway administrations.

As part of the meeting, the heads of the Russian, Azerbaijani, and Iranian railways signed a memorandum on the development of competitive through rates and the enhancement of logistics services along the western route of the North–South International Transport Corridor (Russia–Azerbaijan–Iran).
