On December 17, 2024, the 43rd meeting of the open inter-university scientific and practical seminar "Economics of Railway Transport" took place at the Higher School of Economics. As part of the event, a report was presented by Maria Anatolievna Nikitina, Candidate of Economic Sciences and founder of the "N.Trans-Lab" project, titled “From Varangians to Persians: Problems of Developing the 'North-South' Transport Corridor.”
The report was dedicated to analyzing the factors hindering the development of the international “North-South” transport corridor and studying the prospects for its modernization. Among the key conclusions, the need to create a unified seamless infrastructure capable of handling 80–100 million tons of cargo was highlighted, including the construction of a railway with a 1520 mm gauge to the port of Bandar Abbas.
Alexey Anatolievich Zamkovoy, Deputy General Director of IERDT, participated as an opponent and co-reporter, emphasizing the importance of integrating infrastructure solutions to improve the efficiency of the transport corridor. IERDT’s participation in the discussion underscores its active role in developing strategies for the transport system of Russia and international logistics.
