On April 8, 2025, the business breakfast “Export Potential of the Baltic Ports” took place in Moscow. The event brought together representatives of federal and regional authorities, leading transport, logistics and industrial companies, development institutions, as well as analytical and research organizations. The discussion focused on the development of railway infrastructure leading to ports in the Baltic basin, assessment of the region’s export capacity, and creation of effective tools for implementing major investment projects.
IEDT was represented by General Director Irina Gennadyevna Magnushevskaya and Deputy General Director Sergey Valeryevich Rumyantsev. Irina Gennadyevna was among the event’s key speakers. She emphasized the Institute’s role in developing forward-looking railway infrastructure projects needed to handle the increasing freight flow toward the Baltic basin ports. In her speech, she highlighted that several projects — such as the development of the Dmitrov–Sonkovo–Mga section — have already been included in JSC RZD’s investment program through 2030. Others, including the construction of the Southwestern Bypass of St. Petersburg and the Northern Approach to the Port of Ust-Luga, are not yet part of the program but hold significant potential. Among the key success factors she identified were forecasted freight volumes and the need to attract diverse sources of funding.
