Sergey Rumyantsev, General Director of the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT), spoke as a speaker at the roundtable “Tariffs at a Crossroads: In Search of an Optimal Model for the Market and Russian Railways,” organized by the business publication Vedomosti. The event took place on June 16, 2026, in Moscow.
During the discussion, participants addressed the current tariff-setting model in railway transport, its impact on shippers, and prospects for the development of tariff policy in the context of the external economic environment.
Particular attention was given to balancing the interests of business and the infrastructure monopoly, as well as to possible scenarios for shaping a long-term tariff architecture.
The event was also attended by Pavel Shestakov, Deputy General Director of IEDT, and Alexey Rozhkov, Deputy Head of a Center at IEDT. Representatives of federal authorities, major transport and industrial companies, and industry experts also took part in the roundtable.
