On September 26, 2024, a meeting of the Joint Scientific Council of JSC "Russian Railways" was held, where proposals for technical and technological developments aimed at advancing heavy-haul traffic on Russian railways were discussed.

Maria Mikhailovna Sanchenko, Deputy Head of the Railway Transport Development Center at IEDT JSC, presented a report titled "The Development of Heavy-Haul Traffic to Address Strategic Goals of Increasing Capacity and Efficiency of Russian Railways."

In her presentation, Maria Mikhailovna highlighted the current and prospective zones and routes for heavy-haul freight flows, requirements for traction rolling stock, and the traction service scheme for organizing heavy-haul traffic on the JSC "Russian Railways" network until 2035.
