IEDT Report at the Joint Scientific Council of Russian Railways

On January 30, 2025, a meeting of the Joint Scientific Council of Russian Railways (RZD) was held to discuss issues related to ensuring freight transportation on the Eastern Railway Network through the application of advanced infrastructure and transportation technologies.

The General Director of IEDT, Irina Magnushevskaya, delivered a report on scientifically grounded proposals for technological and digital solutions aimed at efficiently managing prospective freight flows on the Eastern Railway Network

In her presentation, Irina Gennadyevna highlighted the modern research tools and the results achieved using them, developed by IEDT to enhance the efficiency of railway transportation and related production processes. Key topics included:

  • Justification for operating combined container trains;

  • Proposals for using innovative rolling stock and assessing its impact on railway capacity utilization;

  • An algorithm for determining the optimal schedule for track maintenance "windows" and the results of its testing; 

  • Evaluation of the impact of traction rolling stock condition on freight transportation;

  • Justification for the implementation of a new track structure designed for 2.5 billion gross tons;

  • Development of software for managing the interaction between non-public railway tracks and junction stations, among other solutions.
