On March 25–27, 2026, the sixth meeting of heads of railway administrations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states was held in Bishkek (Kyrgyz Republic). The event brought together representatives from ten countries, including Russia, Belarus, China, India, Pakistan, Iran, and Central Asian states. The Russian delegation was headed by Oleg Belozerov, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of Russian Railways.
JSC IEDT was represented by Director General Sergey Rumyantsev and Deputy Director General Alexey Zamkovoy.
Participants discussed key issues such as infrastructure modernization, digitalization, safety enhancement, expansion of international routes, and workforce development.
Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, and the regulations and thematic areas of activity for the Working Group on Railway Transport Research were approved. A key focus of the Working Group will involve, with the participation of IEDT, the development of proposals to expand international transport routes, eliminate barriers in freight and passenger transportation, and synchronize corridor development. The meeting also outlined further directions for the formation of a unified railway space within the SCO and the strengthening of transport and logistics connectivity among member states.
