On November 14, 2024, a joint round table discussion was held by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) and the International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT) to address proposals for developing the transport and logistics complex under current economic conditions.
The participants discussed the following topics:
- Prospective development of EAEU transport infrastructure and Eurasian transport corridors;
- Approaches to financing the construction and modernization of EAEU transport infrastructure;
- Interaction between transport authorities, various modes of transport, and support for the development of combined transport within the EAEU;
- Digital transformation and financial logistics;
- Establishment of new container logistics routes and development of multimodal transportation;
- Creation of new competencies for logistics professionals.
Andrey Alexandrovich Tikhomirov, Head of the Center for Macroeconomics and Forecasting Methodology at JSC "IEDT," delivered a presentation on the development of railway transport and transport-logistics infrastructure in the Russian Federation amid the expanding trade and economic ties with EAEU countries.
In his speech, Andrey Tikhomirov outlined the main directions for developing transport and logistics routes in Russia, highlighted the factors contributing to economic cooperation and growth among EAEU member states, and proposed measures to further enhance trade and transport potential across the EAEU region.
Following the round table, a joint communiqué on the development of the EAEU transport and logistics complex under current economic conditions is planned to be drafted.
