PGUPS Graduates Present Railway Line Design for the North–South Corridor
Today in Nizhny Novgorod, students of the Emperor Alexander I St. Petersburg State Transport University (PGUPS) presented their graduation thesis focused on the development of a new railway route between Yaransk and Kotelnich, as reported by the university’s press service.
The thesis defense was attended by PGUPS Rector Oleg Valinsky, senior officials of the Gorky Railway, representatives of the Federation Council, and the Federal Agency for Railway Transport (Roszheldor). Ministers of transport from the Republic of Tatarstan, the Mari El Republic, the Chuvash Republic, and the Kirov Region joined the event via videoconference.
During the presentation, the students unveiled a comprehensive design for the Yaransk–Kotelnich railway line, incorporating advanced engineering solutions, including the use of lightweight embankment technology. Head of the Gorky Railway Sergey Dorofeyevsky and PGUPS Rector Oleg Valinsky proposed that the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT) support the development of this methodology. IEDT General Director Irina Magnushevskaya expressed readiness for further cooperation.
