“Containerized freight transportation is a win-win strategy for all participants in the logistics market,” said Pavel Shestakov, Deputy General Director of the Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT), in an interview with Gudok. “The ability to promptly create new commercial offers in the transport services market in response to existing demand from cargo owners allows container operators to remain competitive in the segment of general freight transportation,” he noted.
The expansion of container transportation capabilities can be achieved through the modernization of industrial enterprises’ transshipment infrastructure. For example, the modernization of Arkhangelsk Pulp and Paper Mill JSC’s own transport facilities carried out in 2023–2024 now allows the company to form up to 23 container trains per month with its products (compared to two or three per month before reconstruction), Shestakov reminded.
