Currently, high-speed rail services operate on the railways of around 30 countries worldwide. In nine of them—including countries with territories significantly smaller than Russia—the total length of high-speed lines exceeds 1,000 km.
High-speed railways are not merely a mode of transport, but a strategic instrument of spatial and economic development, as clearly demonstrated by the experience of leading countries. The high-speed rail models of China, Europe, and Japan offer Russia valuable lessons that can be adapted to national conditions.
