In June, coal accounted for 27.8 percent of Russian Railways' total freight volume. According to the RZD press service, the share of oil cargo and ferrous metals also increased over the past month.

According to the Institute for Transport Economics and Development, losses in coal shipments due to non-submission of cargo under already approved requests amounted to 4.6 million tonnes in June, with 3.9 million tonnes intended for export.

However, coal supply efficiency improved during the month, driven by lower gondola car lease rates and reduced transshipment costs.
