IEDT and RZD Collaborate on Terminal and Warehouse Infrastructure Development Strategy

Russian Railways (RZD) continues to expand its network of universal terminals to comprehensively serve cargo owners.

– What promising projects are currently in the company’s portfolio?

– Together with IEDT, the Center for Corporate Transport Services (CFTS), and the Department of Economic Analysis and Strategic Development (DEASD), a strategy for developing the terminal and warehouse infrastructure of the holding is being drafted. The results of this work will be included in the overall RZD development strategy. Under the UN’s auspices, we are compiling a list of FLCs operating with "Dry Port" technology. Special attention is being paid to Russian regions experiencing economic growth and a significant increase in rail freight needs. For instance, in cooperation with the Government of the Chechen Republic, we are completing the development of the universal freight terminal in Grozny. This project includes constructing a container yard, enabling the region to handle its first container train in December 2024.
