IEDT General Director on the Development of the Central Transport Hub for Gudok

A technical and technological council meeting was held in Moscow to discuss the development of the Central Transport Hub (CTH) through 2030–2035, with a long-term outlook to 2040. The forecast envisions significant growth in both freight and passenger traffic, as the capital will be increasingly integrated by rail with neighboring regions.

By 2040, the population of Moscow and the Moscow Region is expected to grow by 13% compared to 2024, the number of jobs by 26%, and housing volumes by 35%. “Suburban transportation will increase by 39%, long-distance passenger traffic by 93%, and total freight dispatch and arrival volumes by 70%. At the same time, containerized cargo, as the most profitable segment, will grow 2.7 times,” — presented the forecast Sergey Rumyantsev, General Director of JSC Institute for Transport Economics and Development (IEDT).
