The Russian Academy of Transport (RAT) and NIIAS JSC will form a permanent platform for discussing breakthrough intelligent technologies for the innovative development of railway transport. This decision was made following the results of the RAT Intelligent Systems Committee meeting held at NIIAS last week.
The work of the committee was attended by scientists and specialists from the institutes of the scientific industry complex of RZD (NIIAS, IEDT), leading transport universities of Russia ( RUT (MIIT), SamGUPS, DVGUPS, RGUPS) and transport engineering enterprises. Heads of RZD central office, the North Caucasus, Transbaikal and Far Eastern Railways took part in discussion via videoconference.
The main topic of meeting was increasing the throughput and carrying capacity of the Eastern Polygon, indicating barrier locations and plans for their elimination, including through the development and implementation of breakthrough intelligent technologies for managing train flows.
“Without reducing the interval between trains, a rapid increase in capacity is impossible,” is written in the final resolution.
As an effective tool for increasing capacity abilities, interval control technologies were named, including virtual coupling and traffic-lightless automatic blocking with a moving block section (ABTC-MSh).
The meeting participants decided to conduct further discussion of topical issues on a regular basis at NIIAS. The frequency of operation of the site will be determined later.
