Sensible network load and dynamic model of infrastructure loading (DMZI), and balance of the rolling stock
Implementation of DMZI is associated with the need to take into account a greater number of inputs from our customers and develop optimal transportation solutions in an automated mode. In the context of a large-scale restructuring of the cargo flows, the irrational use of capacity, congestion on the network or underutilization of infrastructure capabilities, especially in the east direction, cannot be allowed.
Over the past six years, there has been a tendency for new freight cars to enter the network at a rate that outpaces the disposal of old cars. As a result, the number of railcars over this period increased by 213,000, reaching a historical maximum of 1,291,000 units.
According to the Institute for Transport Economics and Development estimates, the surplus of the working fleet in April, 2023 amounted to 177 thousand cars, and its main share was placed in two especially heavy traffic directions: southwestern and eastern, including mass loading stations of the West Siberian Railway.
Today, there is objectively no place on the network to accommodate and store an extra fleet. As a result, the cars are on public tracks - at stations - and interfere with the movement of trains.
