Today, according to preliminary estimates, the construction costs of the railway from Nizhny Bestyakh station to Magadan port with the length of about 2 thousand kilometers are estimated at over 3 trillion rubles.
This was announced today in the Federation Council by Oleg Belozerov, Head of RZD JSCo. He expressed support for this project, however specified that this railroad is not highlighted until 2035 in the Transport Complex Development Strategy.
Last year the construction of the main line Nizhny Bestyakh - Magadan was estimated at 1.6-1.7 trillion rubles.
Specialists of the Institute for Transport Economics and Development considered 6 options in based of a set of the following criteria: cargo base, engineering complexity, cost and timing of construction, territorial development. Two of them were selected - Oymyakonsky (over 1.9 thousand km long) and through Ust-Neru (2.1 thousand km).
“The project is big. Now its implementation options are being considered, up to [implementation of] the first part - the exit from [the Magadan] port to the nearest mine fields, about 500 km, which is supposed to be launched as a kind of concession initiative in cooperation with those who will develop these fields," said O. Belozerov.
